Como Friends
Como Friends, the nonprofit partner of the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, works to inspire community generosity in support of Como Park Zoo so that it can thrive for generations to come. Like Blaze, Como Friends is committed to giving back in an effort to uplift our communities.
For over a century, Como Park has played an important role in meeting the recreational needs of Saint Paul and surrounding communities. Opening in 1897, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is the most visited cultural institution in the state of Minnesota. It remains admission free and open 365 days per year, welcoming nearly two million annual visitors.
Since its inception in 1999, Como Friends has invested more than $46 million in Como for nationally recognized gardens, state-of-the-art animal habitats, progressive education programs, and capital projects such as Polar Bear Odyssey, The Ordway Gardens, and Como Harbor.
Como Friends and Blaze
Blaze has proudly partnered with Como Friends since 2022 and became the title sponsor of the Blaze Sparky Show, a staple attraction that showcases Como’s seals and sea lions, originally launched in 1956.
Como Zoo is a special community institution that shares similar values with Blaze. Como is home to the creation of countless memories for Minnesotans, including those of Blaze CEO/President Dan Stoltz.
