Tony Oliva
Well-known for his baseball legacy, Tony Oliva’s impact extends beyond the ballpark. Tony is equally talented as he is genuine and has been a positive influence on generations of baseball players, coaches, and fans. His deep community roots stem from his core values—it’s these values that make him a strong Blaze Partner.
Tony grew up playing baseball in Cuba, but he has called Minnesota home since his arrival to the state in the early 1960s. During his 15-year Major League Baseball career, Tony won three American League batting titles and the 1964 Rookie of the Year Award. He is an eight-time American League All-Star and two-time World Series Champion. After retiring as a player, Tony went on to coach.
In 1988, Tony was inducted into the Minnesota Sports Hall of Fame. The Minnesota Twins retired his No. 6 jersey in 1991. In the summer of 2022, Tony was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
